Mamoru Takuma was a janitor in a elementary school in Itami, Osaka who committed mass murder in the 2001's Osaka school massacre.
On June 8, 2001, around 10 in a morning, Mamoru, armed with kitchen blade burst into a classroom of an elite school in Ikeda from the rear entrance and began slashing numerous children and teachers along the way as he moves into a hallway. He killed 8 children, mostly between the ages seven and eight, and seriously wounded 13 others and two teachers.
The mass killing-at the elementary school that attended nearly 700 children-sent hundreds of panicked children-with many of them sobbing and screaming for help.
After 10 minutes of horrifying rampage, Mamoru was subdued by the vice principal and a male teacher before handed to the authorities.

While arrested, he was described as being in an extremely confused state, and said," I went to the elementary school.." and then saying, " I went to the train station and stabbed 100 people with my knife. I did not go to elementary school."
Mamoru also stated, " I've become disgusted with everything. I've tried to kill several times, but couldn't. Give me a death sentence."
Mamoru told, that he hated elite children, who attended the school that he attacked.
On August 28, 2003 Mamoru was found guilty and sentenced to death. He was executed by hanging on September 14, 2004, after spent a year on death row.
Revealing the history of Mamoru's life, who was born in Itami, Japan, he had exhibited symptoms of Macdonald Triad since an early age. When he was 12, Mamoru set a kitten wrapping in newspaper in fire until death. His brutal habits continued throughout his teenage years as he throwing cats into the furnaces.
During his sophomore year of high school, he had reportedly attacked a teacher and ran away from home for months. He then dropped out of high school. His father then sought psychiatric help for his son after he had beaten him, but the hospital refused to take his case.

Mamoru entered the Japan Air Self Defense Force after he had disowned by his father but was soon discharged due to having sex intercourse with a minor.
After released from prison, Mamoru moved to Ikeda and found work as a bus and garbage truck driver before he got fired after attacked a passenger in 1998 over the smell of her perfume. According to his co-workers, Mamoru was described as a quite and unremarkable man, but a bit loner who did not enjoy dealing with his customers and preferred to working by himself.
Mamoru then got a new job as a maintenance man at Itami Elementary School, 6 kilometers away from Ikeda. In October of the same year, he was arrested on suspicion of assulting his former wife.
On March 3, 1999, Mamoru had dissolved some of his tranquilizer, temazepam, into the tea served in the teachers' room, sending 4 of them to the hospital. He was arrested and sent to a psychiatric hospital, where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He later jumped from the roof of the asylum in an attempt to commit suicide but failed. After a month of treatment he was released from the hospital as he judged to be "capable of taking care of himself."
After his release from the hospital he still continued displaying his odd behavior. He stated that he was a survivor of the Japan Airline Flight 123 crash.
The frightened and terrified school children were gathered on the field after the attack.
Once again, In November, 1999, he was arrested by the authorities. This time he was suspicious of entering into a private home, but the charges were dropped. He then managed to get a job as a taxi driver in September, 2000, but get fired in October 16 after he punched a hotel bellhop in Osaka and broke his nose.
Besides, being arrested almost eleven times and had married for four times, Mamoru was also kicked out of several apartments for, among other things, throwing his garbage out from the balcony.
Two weeks before commit the mass murder, Momaru voluntarily admitted himself into an asylum for depression on May 23, 2001 but left the the next day without treatment.
On June 8, 2001, the day where he should hear the court over his case of assaulting the bellboy, he went murderous rampage in the Ikeda Elementary School and killed 2 children at the scene and injured 23 others. 6 children were reportedly died later at the hospital and six more were said to have serious injuries.
The children who had died from the attacked were from first grade and second grade, consists a male and 7 females range between age seven to eight years old.

Hours after the attack, bloodstains on the school steps and the school building confirmed witness accounts that some the injured had fallen desperate attempt to get out.
According to the police, Mamoru, who wielded with 6 inches kitchen knife also get injured in the attack- he self-inflicted himself in order to commit suicide. At the time of his apprehension, his speech was slurred and he admitted to taking an overdose tranquilizers.

On August 28, 2003, Mamoru was found guilty of multiple counts of murder and sentenced to death. After the judge read the sentence, Mamoru remained unrepentant, refusing to apologize to the victims' families and only asked for the sentence to be fulfilled as fast as possible.
His statement was," I should have used gasoline, so I could have killed more than I did."
On the last day of trial, Mamoru still expressed no guilty or remorse. He continued to insult the family victims until the judge removed him.
The sentence was carried out unusually quickly by Japanese standards (condemned prisoners in Japan usually spend many years on death row), and Mamoru was executed only a year later on September 14, 2004.
Kaoru Kobayashi, a sex offender who had kidnapped and murdered a first grade female children, Kaede Ariyama ini 2004, considered Mamoru as a charismatic murderer and sought speedy execution.
" I want to be sentenced to death as quickly as possible, and leave a legacy among the public as the next Tsutomu Mizaki or Mamoru Takuma,"
Kaoru was executed by hanging to death on February 21, 2013 after spent 8 years on death row.

What is interest is, he claims he was a survivor of Flight 123 - but during the time that the Flight crashed, he was in prison for three years.
